“Toward Sustainable Innovation: Challenges for Vietnam Highlighted at the P4G Policy Forum”

🌱 Toward a Sustainable Innovation Ecosystem: The Need for a “Deeper Strategy”

At the “Policy Dialogue Forum to Promote Investment, Business, and Entrepreneurship in the Green Transition” (a side event of the P4G 2025 Summit), experts highlighted that Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem is at a critical turning point. While the quantitative growth of startups and innovative enterprises is remarkable, challenges remain in terms of depth, connectivity, and sustainability. It is now essential to shift from a strategy focused on expansion to one emphasizing depth, as this is no longer a choice but a prerequisite for global integration and competitiveness.

Reframing Innovation Through the Lens of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Innovation must be closely aligned with the creation of social and environmental value and connected to the SDGs.Creative solutions that address societal challenges such as climate change, urbanization, healthcare, and education should take center stage, and both public and private resources must be strategically allocated to these areas.

Enhancing the Capacity of Ecosystem Stakeholders

The government must strengthen its institutional support systems; enterprises must become drivers of innovation; and research institutions, universities, intermediary organizations, and investors must build a robust innovation network through connectivity and resource sharing. The key lies in fostering an innovation ecosystem with strong endogenous capacities.

Building Regional Ecosystems and Promoting Balanced Growth

A sustainable innovation strategy should not be limited to major cities. It is crucial to expand innovation hubs to regional areas, promote balanced distribution, reduce regional disparities, activate local creativity, and drive balanced national growth.

👉 Next Challenge Foundation is committed to walking alongside Vietnam’s startup ecosystem, continuing to support the creation of a sustainable, deep, and globally adaptive innovation ecosystem.
